Narrow Your Focus with Local SEO

Search engine optimization has a few hard choices. If you have a small brand name in a highly competitive field, taking back search results from national brands will be expensive. If you have a wide range of services, you might not be able to effectively devote your marketing budget to each general keyword. If you have a local business, you have to cut clear lines between national interest and local customers. 

How can you set up your business for better local SEO results?

Search engines need to know as much as possible to put you in the right search results. Reaching the top spots will take time because your site needs to build up credibility, too. But if you don't make key information about your business clear, fewer people will see your site.

Establish your contact information as clearly and frequently as possible.

If you want to show up in searches for 'X near me,' post your address frequently. While you don't want to overload your website with it, it needs to be on every page. Put it in your footer, along with your main email, business name, phone number, and social media links. Also feature it on your 'About' page with a few contextual mentions of your city or metroplex area. This tells any bots crawling across your site where your business is and which searches are eligible for local services.

Add accounts to sites devoted to local services.

Review sites like Yelp and Localist are great opportunities to focus on local SEO. Not only are they places where people go for local insight, they are another platform where you can post your business name and address. Make sure to do the same on map sites and local sites based on your niche.
