Use Custom-Designed Websites to Establish a Specialty or Become a “Connector” or “Maven”

If you already have a website, then you’ve probably considered the importance of visuals and text.  You might have already started a blog and set up social media pages.  You might have decided to give customers the option to buy your product over the internet.  This means that you’ve covered the basics, but you might be wondering if there’s any more you can do via the internet to promote your business or generally make things easier.  The internet is a vast medium and can be used for numerous things, from hiring people to checking out the competition.  Here are a couple of different ways in which you can use your web presence to expand your business:

Establish a Specialty

This is something you can keep in mind while running your business and setting up your website.  You might be in a field where you have a number of competitors.  However, if you establish a specialty, then people will be more likely to turn to you when they want to buy that thing.  For example, if you’re in the publishing field, you might decide to concentrate on publishing classics or books from a particular region.  You can also use the internet to hone in on that specialty.  Make it clear via your website, blog and social media pages.  Create a company image that people will associate with that specialty.

Become a Connector or a Maven

Malcolm Gladwell writes about connectors and mavens in his book, The Tipping Point.  These people are responsible for the sudden popularity of many products because they are themselves in contact with many people.  Connectors are people who are just gregarious by nature; they know a lot of people and they love talking to them.  Mavens, on the other hand, are the people who know a lot about certain things.  So people are constantly looking to them to get answers to their questions.  You can use your website, blog and social media pages to become a connector who knows a lot of people and generally spreads information.  Or you can use the internet medium to establish your expertise, the way a maven would.

These are just a couple of different ways in which you can use the internet to further your business aims.  Contact us for more information.
