How Accountants Can Project Reliability on Their Website

Jun 29, 2018 by kidd

As an accountant, you're looking for a website that conveys reliability and trustworthiness. You want people to know that they can trust you with their financial information. This information is sensitive in nature. So when someone gives it to you, it means they are trusting you to take care of their money, without the threat of embezzlement or fraud.

If you're a well-established firm, people will feel less anxious about giving you access to their financial documents. But any company less than five years old in the accounting field is considered a fledgeling company. So you have to work twice as hard to convince people to trust you with their information. Here are a few tips:

Images

The images on your website should reflect the feelings of reliability and trustworthiness you want to invoke. Make sure you get a professional photographer to take photos of you and your team before you post them on your website. You want to look professional by wearing a suit and being well-groomed but you also want to look approachable by smiling.

If you're using photos of models rather than real people, these should also look professional but approachable. However, try to make the photos of models more relatable, if you can. This means that the models should be from various races/cultures. They should also represent various body types. This way, potential clients of all races, cultures and body types will feel like they're being represented on your website.

Content

In terms of content, it's very easy to get dull and boring when you're explaining accounting terms or ideas. You want to avoid this as much as possible. But this doesn't mean that you should write your content as if it were a sales pitch. Try to keep your tone conversational and easy-to-understand, as if you're talking to a good friend. This way, you will neither come across as too smarmy nor difficult to understand.

Also, it's best to keep your content brief as much as possible. Cover the salient points and leave out anything extraneous. Storytelling is also a good way to get clients hooked. This can mean the story of your company, your own personal story, the story of a client who managed to change their life by using your services etc.
